Attended: Lift Off 2 (August 2010)

Where were you in your entrepreneurial journey before Lift Off? I was doing okay with freelance illustration clients, but I wanted (needed) to grow my business. Mainly I wanted to switch my focus, selling and licensing my art more and doing less custom work (trading my time for money).

I had a vague idea of where I wanted to go, but I wasn’t sure how to codify my vision into practical steps. As a result, I floundered about, randomly starting projects that werent really serving my vision. I wasted a lot of time on things that weren’t making money and were way off my path.

What are you up to now? I am totally focused on licensing my art. I have a clear vision and a solid plan. I can see that it’s a marathon and will take some time to build, but I’m more confident than I’ve ever been that I’m moving in the right direction.

Since Lift Off, I’ve had some great successes and I’ve been able to see how some of the seeds I’ve been planting are bearing fruit. It’s super hard work, but I know exactly where this is heading.

What was your favorite thing about Lift Off? The people. I loved being part of a group of people who were all committed to their businesses. We also had a lot of laughs. It was like instant family. I also love that we’ve all been helping each other with our projects in the months since. It didn’t end when we left the retreat.
